>> You will be required to undertake HR administration and support duties in relation to the provision of an effective HR Support service to HR and Services of the Council. Duties include data input, appointment administration, issuing of contracts of employment, administration of maternity leave, higher duty and teachers responsibility payments, and providing advice to Services and employees on HR policies and procedures.

Job Purpose
>> To support the work of the HR Operational Support Team and the provision of an effective support service.
Main Tasks
- Undertake HR support duties including providing advice to Services on HR policies and procedures, appointment administration, issuing of contracts of employment, maternity and adoption leave, higher duty and teachers responsibility payments etc
- Assist in the development and updating of HR support procedures to effectively support HR strategies within the Council, and in line with changing legislation and undertake changes and improvements as required in consultation with the HR Support Officer
- Assist in the provision of an effective support service to the HR, Strategy & OD and Health, Safety & Development services including research, provision of statistical information and provision of administrative support
- Assist in the general day to day maintenance of the Employee Management Information System (EMIS) and be involved in its development
Experience/Qualifications/Personal Qualities
>>Essential Criteria
- Standard Grade English and Maths
- Proven previous clerical/administrative experience
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word /Excel
- Well-developed interpersonal and organisational skills
- Ability to plan and organise own workload and adhere to deadlines
- Ability to take direction, as and when required
- Team player
- Self-motivated and enthusiastic
- Flexible and adaptable attitude
- Ability to use initiative in day-to-day duties
- Awareness of confidentiality
- Pleasant telephone manner
>>Desirable Criteria
- Previous experience working in a multi-disciplined large and complex organisation in an HR administration function
- Previous experience in Local Authority/Public Service
- Certificate in Personnel Practice
- ECDL qualification
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Access
- Working knowledge and use of personnel/HR database systems
- Knowledge of SJC national pay and conditions of employment
