Job overview

Humanities Co-ordinator, Leicester

We have an excellent opportunity for an innovative, talented and ambitious teacher of Humanities (ideally Geography) to provide strong leadership to a talented team of professionals in a rapidly improving school. The successful applicant will have a proven track record of achieving positive student outcomes and a strong commitment to ensure that all learners achieve success both personally and academically. You should have the talent and potential for future promotion.

Our students are polite, well behaved and have a positive attitude to learning. Our school attendance rates are amongst the highest in the city as well as very low exclusion rates which further demonstrate the appetite for learning amongst our students with extremely supportive parents also.

Madani Boys School is a new school which opened in late 2012. The vision for our school is simple; we want to become outstanding in all aspects with our Islamic ethos being central to everything we do. Our school originated from the hugely successful Madani High School which split approximately eighteen months ago into 2 new schools, namely Madani Girls School and Madani Boys School. These 2 new schools are part of Madani Schools Federation. Madani Boys School is now an improving school after going through a challenging restructuring period and there is genuine excitement that we are on a ?special? journey as a school community.

During the Autumn term, the school had an Ofsted inspection whereby we were graded ?requires improvement? overall. Despite this disappointing overall grade, the inspectors clearly recognised that effective strategic and operational plans are now in place to help ensure the school can move forwards rapidly in the next two years. The school has many good aspects including strong leadership and a passionate staff team as well as the clear potential to become outstanding in all aspects within a few years. The journey to become outstanding has started and we are pleased to welcome ambitious professionals to join our committed school team.

Madani Boys School is an Islamic state secondary for boys aged 11-16 in Leicester. The school welcomes pupils of all faiths and caters for approximately 300 pupils. Madani Boys School is part of the Madani Schools Federation, which also encompasses Madani Girls School.

The two secondaries were originally one school, but were separated into two single-gender schools in response to parents seeking a single-sex education for their children. The federation is aiming to open two new free schools in Leicester in 2018.
