The School

In September 2012 the UCL Academy opened with 180 students in Year 7 and 125 Year 12 students. It will reach its full capacity of 1150 students by the autumn of 2016. In January 2013 we shall move into a brand new purpose built school building in Swiss Cottage, Camden, London.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced IT Officer who can bring us commercial clout, technical expertise and real leadership skills. You will take responsibility for strategic ICT developments and initiatives within the Academy, oversee our major ICT managed service contract, and manage the maintenance and development of our suite of information systems.

The role will involve close liaison with our Senior Leadership Team as you plan the future of ICT systems and develop a strategy for harnessing technology in education. On a day-to-day basis, you will be providing professional advice on processes, managing our service levels and supervising budgets and procurement. You will also have responsibility for reprographics services and our telecoms and security control systems, as well as digital notice boards and our web site.

The Person

Excellent communication skills are essential, as you will be preparing reports for Executive and Board of Governors' meetings and act as guru and evangelist for effective ICT in the curriculum. You will need broad, high level technical skills and experience of setting and implementing technical strategies.

A graduate in computing or business, you will ideally be MCSE certified and will have the confidence to work alongside teaching staff and deal commercially with our external technical partners. As an important member of the management team you will be expected to demonstrate leadership, work proactively and will be prepared, on occasion, to commit to anti-social hours during evenings and weekends.
