Key Stage 3 Literacy and Numeracy Lead Teacher / Year 7 Teacher
(Primary or Secondary specialist with strong English and Maths)

The governors seek to appoint an outstanding primary or secondary school teacher with experience of implementing literacy and numeracy initiatives in own class or across the wider school.

The post will involve:

  • Teaching as a Year 7 teacher.
  • Supporting the whole school literacy and numeracy coordinators and Key Stage 3 curriculum coordinator in developing the teaching of literacy and numeracy at Key Stage 3.
  • Planning, implementing and reviewing intervention and booster classes to raise attainment in English and maths in Year 7.

Key features of Year 7 Teaching role:

  • A holistic teacher in the primary model who remains with the same class for the majority of their timetable in specialised teaching rooms.
  • Team teaching with subject specialists to deliver consistently outstanding lessons.
  • Around 40% of timetable self-directed to deliver intervention and mentoring, plan, differentiate, liaise with primary schools and deliver transition activities.
  • Excellent career development with primary, secondary, leadership development and teaching and learning programmes and "keeping in touch" secondments for primary and subject specialists.
  • Previous postholders moved on to promotion as Head of Year, Key Stage 2 coordinator, SENCO, Head of Department and Deputy Headteacher.
