Key Stage Co-ordinator for Mathematics, South Gloucestershire

Required for 1 September 2014, a well-qualified and versatile Teacher of Mathematics with a responsibility for teaching and learning within a Key Stage. They will become part of the management team of a large, committed and successful Learning Area.

The successful candidate would be required to teach all ages and abilities. Specific responsibilities will be decided in line with the experience of the successful candidate and the needs of the Academy.

In its last OFSTED Inspection (2012), Winterbourne International Academy was judged as Good for its overall effectiveness, with a similar judgement in each of the four sub categories.

Winterbourne International Academy, situated a few miles outside Bristol, is a flourishing, consistently oversubscribed, all-ability school with a large Sixth Form. The school specialises in Modern Foreign Languages and Mathematics and has International Status offering the International Baccalaureate alongside A Levels. The Academy is undergoing a £19.3 million capital investment programme with the new building due for completion in July 2014, prior to the demolition of the existing buildings and final landscaping work.

About Winterbourne International Academy

Winterbourne International Academy is a non-denominational, non-selective secondary school for girls and boys aged 11-18. It is situated in Winterbourne, Bristol, and there are 1,850 pupils on its roll. It is part of the Ridings' Federation of Academies, established in 2009 with a core purpose of raising and sustaining education standards.

The Federation has invested £35 million in new facilities at Winterbourne and its sister school, Yate International Academy.

Students are taught well, challenged to reach high standards and are given good advice about the next stages of their education and employment.  The curriculum is strengthened by clear spiritual, moral, social and cultural guidance. Students demonstrate a good understanding of British values and know how to distinguish between what is right and what is wrong. Students are happy in the academy. Their behaviour in classrooms is good overall because they focus on their learning and show respect for teachers and one another.”
