About Harris Academy Morden

School summary

Although Harris Academy Morden opened in September 2012, it builds on more than 20 years of experience within the Harris Federation and an exceptional track record in London education.

At Harris Academy Morden, you will see students who treat each other with care and respect, teachers who are trained and resourced to inspire the best in every class they teach and a highly experienced leadership team with a track record of developing outstanding schools. Everything is in place for Harris Academy Morden to have an outstanding future.

Harris Academy Morden is a modern and innovative Academy. We are a totally inclusive Academy who promote the traditional British and global values of good manners, hard work, excellent behaviour and smart uniform.

We are moving quickly to achieving our goal of ‘Outstanding’ in all categories. To continue our journey to ‘Outstanding’, we are looking for the right people to join our team.

Academy Ethos

The Academy motto is: ‘Courage, Challenge and Success’:

Courage: Students are expected to show resilience and have the determination to persist even when things are difficult. Staff develop this trait over time through high expectations, modelling and our PSHE programme. Students and staff will be encouraged to also ‘do the right thing’ and have the courage to ‘defend the weak’ and ‘speak up’ for what is right and wrong.

Challenge: Students are expected to challenge themselves and have high aspirations. Students must be brave enough to challenge themselves, try new things and embrace the opportunities the Academy will offer during curriculum time and the extensive extra-curricular programme. Students and staff are encouraged to challenge what they know is not true or fair and ‘speak up’.

Success: This is for all students. Success does not come cheaply. Parents and staff must work together with students who demonstrate courage and challenge to ensure that everybody succeeds. We aspire for all of our students to be prepared to succeed in the 21st century, to have the qualifications to open any door and the human conviction to achieve the life that they wish to lead. Students and staff are encouraged to succeed personally but help others to do so as well.
