The Chafford School are currently seeking to appoint an innovative and visionary Leader of Computing and Information Technology with the knowledge of how ICT can be implemented across the school and used effectively to support learning and inspire students and staff.

The Chafford School in London Borough of Havering is a Specialist Business and Enterprise College with very high academic standards offering outstanding courses and opportunities to all students in developing their entrepreneurial and business skills. This mixed comprehensive secondary school boasts excellent facilities such as a specialist Business and Enterprise zone, dedicated Performing and Creative Arts facilities, a cutting edge ICT network and resources that support teaching and learning in the classroom, support their re-integration and/or offer and deliver individualised alternative curriculum.

The school are seeking to recruit an astute and imaginative Leader of Computing and Information Technology to start in January 2015. We are looking for a high calibre of candidate with a vision and a "wow" factor in their ideas or implementation of ICT and whole school learning.

The successful candidate for the Head of Computing and IT role would be someone who is able to generate a real sense of futuristic learning and encourage the students to experiment new IT concepts and have fun in an ever changing environment. We are looking for an exceptional candidate who can cease the opportunity and harness changes in the computing curriculum and become an expert in the field.

The successful candidate for this role will:

  • Be suitably qualified in Computing and ICT
  • Be an outstanding Computing and ICT teacher
  • Preferably knowledgeable Head of Department or an ambitious and innovative practitioner looking for a career progression
  • Have a vision for how ICT can be effectively developed across the school
  • Have proven experience and knowledge of how ICT supports learning across the curriculum
  • Have extensive knowledge of the IT infrastructure needed to deliver high level computing courses and to support learning across the school
  • Have the ability and personal qualities to inspire students and staff in their use and development of ICT

The Chafford School is a high-achieving, mixed, non-denominational 11-16 comprehensive Academy school situated in a pleasant semi-rural environment within an open and attractive 18 acre site with agricultural land to the rear.   Many of our students achieve very high academic qualifications and progress onto further and higher education. Some student’s start their AS levels early whilst still at The Chafford. Many of our students have outstanding talents and we aim to stretch these through our Gifted and Talented programme and our large extra-curricular provision. The school is extremely successful on the sports field and are well represented at Local, County and National level. The Chafford is a Specialist Business and Enterprise Centre with very high academic standards: 11 or 12 A*- C passes at GCSE are not unusual. This school boasts excellent facilities; with newly refurbished Science classrooms,  a specialist Business and Enterprise zone, dedicated Performing and Creative Arts facilities, a cutting edge ICT network with over 400 computers throughout the building and resources that support teaching and learning in the classroom. Our sports facilities are also extensive. We have use throughout the day of the Chafford Sports Complex, with its sports hall, fitness suite and swimming pool. We also have tennis, netball and volleyball courts as well as an all-weather pitch, trampolining facilities and playing fields for rugby, football and hockey.
