Appointment of an inspirational and dynamic Leader of Learning - English

Applications are invited from not only current practising Heads of Departments but also aspiring Heads of Department who are well qualified, dedicated and highly motivated to make a distinctive contribution to raising standards within the English department. This is an excellent opportunity to develop leadership and management skills to lead within the English department.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Excellent subject knowledge and will be able to demonstrate consistently high standards of delivery in their teaching
  • The ability to plan and prepare innovative lessons supported by English schemes of work and ensure the same of the team
  • A clear understanding of how to ensure good rates of pupil progress in English across the Academy
  • A clear understanding of how to implement successful intervention for pupils for whom literacy levels on entry may be below the national average
  • The academic ability to stretch and challenge the most able and to foster their aspirations
  • Excellent organisational skills that lead to an effective drive and ambition across the Department to model the same
  • The ability to co-ordinate a team and create an ethos of drive and energy
  • A passion for the subject of English that influences and encourages a love of the subject among learners
  • The capacity to role model excellence in leadership and in the use of the English language across the Academy
