This is an exciting opportunity for someone who has the energy, commitment and creativity to motivate students from a diverse range of backgrounds and support their personal and social development.

If you have the confidence and outreach skills to engage with learners who may be initially reluctant, this position offers exactly that challenge. You will be responsible for getting them involved in decision making, support them to run their own societies and large scale events (such as Black History Month or International Women's Day); and at the same time ensure they attend lessons and access extra support if they need it.

Ealing, Hammersmith and West London College is looking for an enthusiastic and imaginative youth/community worker to deliver excellent recreational activities, facilitate interactive tutorial sessions and play a key role in improving our Students' Union.

You should have experience of working with groups of people from diverse backgrounds at both a 1-2-1 and group level and delivered recreational activities and pastoral support in a Further Education or youth/community support sector. This could be either paid or voluntary experience. You should also have experience of developing partnerships with internal and external services. Above all, you will be a great team player who is passionate about supporting our learners.

When filling out the application form, please follow the instructions carefully and make sure that for every criteria on the person specification you give at least one example of how your experience matches the criteria. Feel free to include experience gained through employment, volunteering or education.

For an informal chat about this role please feel free to email the Learner Engagement Manager james.gould@wlc.ac.uk to arrange a time.

Our aim is to recruit the best staff possible and to deliver first class teaching to our learners. We are committed to equality and diversity, and expect our staff to share this commitment.

Ofsted report

“Within this very positive picture overall, there is provision where achievement, although much improved, requires further improvement. Leaders and managers have successfully transformed the culture of the college so that staff now have higher expectations of themselves and of their learners, and have maintained the rate of progress seen at the previous monitoring visit. The use of targets has improved markedly on most programmes. Almost all learners know their target grades and, in the best cases, use these to motivate themselves to achieve. Leaders and managers continue to strongly focus on improving the quality of the provision in English and mathematics.”
