ARK Dickens Primary Academy in Portsmouth is a two-form entry primary academy, which became part of the ARK network in September. We are now seeking a dedicated Learning Mentor to support the leadership team, to establish a nurturing learning environment in which students can make good academic progress. They will be responsible for providing students with learning support and guidance, behaviour management, working with external partners and agencies (social services etc) and working with social and emotional groups. They will also work closely with parents.

The ideal candidate will have experience of establishing successful learning relationships with a variety of pupils. You will have a genuine passion and a belief in the potential of every pupil, with a helpful, positive and caring nature.

This role is an exciting opportunity; you will join the school in its first year as an ARK school and thus have a real impact on its development. In addition, they will be joining a growing network of schools with access to a wide range of training and best-practice sharing opportunities.

Curriculum

Our curriculum is focused on developing and enhancing our students' skills in reading, writing and maths. These key, lifelong skills are then enriched and developed through as many experiences as possible in science, ICT and the creative arts. To prepare them for secondary school, our Year 6 pupils take part in enrichment activities every Friday afternoon and can choose from cookery, art, sports or drama.
