The School
GEMS Maju will start its first, pilot, school operations in Malaysia in September 2014.
This important experimental programme will serve as a basis to develop and consolidate the GEMS educational programme for Malaysia, a blend of international (about 80%) and national (20%) curriculums; and train Malaysian teachers in an in-service, mentee and mentor model of training.
The pilot school will be located in a row of connected shop houses, two-story high buildings characteristic of Southeast Asia, near the site of future campus in Penang. The school will be well appointed and accommodate up to 150 students from KG1 to Year 5, along with 6-8 master trainers and 50 trainee teachers.
The Posts
Master Primary Teachers
The Master Primary Teacher's first role, supported by the Head of School/Division, will be to help integrate the British curriculum and the Malaysian education components, showcase the delivery of this programme in a classroom setting, and ensure that all aspects are understood and translated into daily classroom practice by Teacher Trainees.
The Master Teacher's second, key, role will be to help train the Teacher Trainees in the fundamentals of planning, teaching, assessment and evaluation. This training will consist of teaching (by Trainees), demonstrating teaching (by Trainers), peer observation, lesson preparation, group projects, extended written assignments and assessment/feedback.
The practical modules will be complemented by theoretical ones - lectures and workshops - conducted by external and/or internal specialists.
The Master Primary Teacher's will be responsible for: Planning and Preparation; Teaching and Learning; Assessment; and Teacher Supervision and Training.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications required:
- Degree from a recognized university
- Teacher professional certification (e.g. PGCE)
- Minimum of five full contract teaching years' in a Primary School setting.

We are specifically interested in Master Primary Teachers with expertise in one of the following areas: MFL; Mathematics and Science; Sports; Arts, Music and Drama.
