John Ruskin College is a mixed, non-denominational sixth-form college located in South Croydon. The college, which was established as the John Ruskin Boys’ Central School in 1920, specialises in vocational education, A-levels, traineeships, apprenticeships and direct entry for students aged 14-16. 

John Ruskin College offers diplomas in Sports and Science, Hair and Beauty and Spa Therapies, Heath Care and Early Years, ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages), Business and Law, Business and Finance as well as Creative Industries and Technology.

John Ruskin College has an ethos of enrichment and personal development. The college encourages students to pursue their passions through clubs and student societies. It provides opportunities to engage with industry representatives, attend career fairs and make the most of voluntary work opportunities. 

The college also offers a weekly tutorial programme, as well as an impartial College Careers and Employment Adviser, who works with students to hone their skills and ready them for the modern world of work.

The development of learners’ knowledge and skills is outstanding as reflected in the high quality of their written work, well developed practical skills, their competent use of specialist vocabulary and ability to work independently. The promotion of equality and diversity is highly effective, resulting in an inclusive learning environment which supports individual learners’ needs exceptionally well. Achievements gaps have been eliminated. The college’s overall success rates have improved rapidly and are significantly higher than the national average for similar colleges."
