OUR RECRUITMENT PROCESS

These pages outline teaching vacancies that we envisage this year, although some of the positions may be tentative when they are first advertised. We operate a rolling system for appointing new staff and we are prepared to interview and appoint as soon as a vacancy becomes definitive.

THE INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF MILAN

Founded in 1958, ISM caters for over 1000 students from more than 60 nationalities. Our new campus opened in September 2013, incorporating a theatre, swimming pool and a superb gymnasium as well as specialist classrooms, labs, libraries, arts and music areas. Wifi is enabled throughout the campus to support the school’s 1:1 learning project and every student has access to a personal tablet or laptop.  ISM is managed by a Headmaster, who reports to the Board of Directors, while the internal management structure reflects our commitment to the International Baccalaureate. The Primary Principal is responsible for learning in the PYP from Early Years to Grade 6, while in the Secondary School responsibility is divided between the MYP Principal and the DP Principal.  All of our sections are fully authorized for the three IB programmes – PYP for Kindergarten to Grade 6, MYP from grades 7 to 11 and the Diploma Programme in grades 12-13. ISM is the most established IB school in Italy and has an excellent record of results in the Diploma

THE INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF MONZA

The International School of Monza was founded to serve international families living in the green belt just beyond Milan city limits. It is managed by a Principal who works closely with the Head in Milan.  IS Monza is well established with successful Primary and Middle Schools catering for up to 200 students and it will move to a new campus in 2015, offering extension to High School.  The school is authorized for PYP and MYP.

THE INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF MODENA

The International School of Modena began as a joint venture with Tetra Pak at its world centre for technology and product development.  The school now caters for about 160 local and international children in a campus that was opened in 2007.  IS Modena now includes High School  in a project that will lead to the full IB Diploma to grade 13 in the next three years.  IS Modena is authorized for PYP and MYP.

THE INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF SIENA

ISS opened in September 2010.  Operated and managed by ISE it is funded and supported by a consortium which includes the pharmaceutical company Novartis and the Provincial authority of Siena.  It is located in a beautiful villa in the Tuscan hills just outside the city and caters to about 100 students across Primary and Middle Schools.  IS Siena is fully authorized for PYP.

CORE VALUES

ISM promotes international understanding and internationalism in education. Although legislation restricts employment to EC nationals, we actively seek staff with international experience or dual passport holders. Teachers working in a modern educational setting with high standards in teaching and learning will feel comfortable with the approaches used in ISE. However, some of our features may be novel, such as the IB’s pedagogical approaches and the international ethos which permeates our educational process. We also work with multilingual students and expatriate families from different cultural backgrounds. We provide opportunities to gain expertise in these areas through on-going professional development.

Although we are mostly non-selective, academic targets are high. Mother-tongue English speakers are a minority but most students have attended English-speaking schools for all their education. There are EAL teachers in each site but all staff must be prepared to adapt their teaching to cater for a range of English capabilities. Over 95% of graduates go to university, especially the UK, USA, Italy and students’ home countries. A guidance team provides counseling for all ages.
