Job overview

HOURS: Normally 37 hours per week but commensurate on completing the duties associated with the post.

JOB PURPOSE:

  • To deliver timely funding reports to the funding agencies or associations.
  • To manage and produce accurate and timely data reports on all aspects of learner applications, performance, funding and progression.
  • To ensure that our data systems are fit for purpose and allow accurate, meaningful and timely reporting, analysis and returns as required.
  • To ensure that the College is fully versed to local, regional and national funding and curriculum developments.
  • To review and improve data lead systems and processes to support to support College staff in delivering their roles.
  • To advise and guide College management and other staff in respect of a variety of College funding streams and methodologies attaching to learner activity to help shape the design and recording of curriculum to maximize performance and funding.
  • To deputise for the Chief Operating Officer as required.
  • To maintain highly developed business planning processes including reporting assisting with strategic planning for curriculum development and responsibility for the planning and modeling systems.

Person Specification

  • An appropriate academic or professional vocational qualification at degree or higher degree level.
  • To achieved Maths and English up to level 2.
  • Advanced IT skills up to at least level 3. Ability to create and query complex data bases.
  • Experience of at least three years in working on government data returns for post 16 funded learners.
  • Wide experience of post-14 education.
  • Experience of managing people.
  • Ability to lead major change and development as demonstrated by performance in previous positions.
  • Experience of effective performance improvement and quality assurance in further or secondary education.
  • A sound understanding of the relevant post 14 qualifications and funding frameworks.
  • Awareness of a variety of relevant funding mechanisms and income streams and the acumen to ensure cost-effectiveness in the delivery of the College's learning programmes.
  • The ability to set and achieve demanding performance targets and to effectively manage any identified underperformance.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills of a high order which are applicable to a range of partners and of clients.
  • The qualities of a team player; the ability to work flexibly and effectively as a member of the management group and Curriculum and Learner Experience Group and to make a positive contribution to the corporate management of the College.
  • Willingness to work variable hours when necessary to meet the requirements of the post.
  • The ability to work flexibly and effectively as an individual and team member.

Annual Leave: 31 days annual leave per year plus statutory bank holidays

John Ruskin College is a mixed, non-denominational sixth-form college located in South Croydon. The college, which was established as the John Ruskin Boys’ Central School in 1920, specialises in vocational education, A-levels, traineeships, apprenticeships and direct entry for students aged 14-16. 

John Ruskin College offers diplomas in Sports and Science, Hair and Beauty and Spa Therapies, Heath Care and Early Years, ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages), Business and Law, Business and Finance as well as Creative Industries and Technology.
