Job overview

The NASUWT is the leading teachers' trade union across the UK, with a strong tradition of effective organising and campaigning. These posts are based in Birmingham and attract a final salary pension plus 47 days leave including public holidays and closure days.

Both positions require a track record of engagement in policy development, a strong commitment to equalities in the workplace, and a good understanding of pay, pensions and conditions of service issues from a trade union perspective.

In addition, the National Official will have a record of success in negotiating with employers.

The Challenge

Can you ensure the NASUWT continues to deliver the highest levels of collective representation, negotiation and campaigns which advance the interests of teachers and school leaders across the UK?

The Job

Leading the Union's national Salaries, Pensions and Conditions of Service Team, you will develop and maintain a robust evidence base, as well as provide strategic data, information and advice to inform and guide the NASUWT's negotiations with employers and government administrations throughout the UK.

The Candidate

You will combine an excellent understanding of the issues facing teachers and the wider education services across all the UK, with the ability to shape and influence policy and lead negotiations at the highest level.

You will need excellent skills in research and data analysis, with the ability to secure the strategic priorities of the Union and the interests of members.
