One to One Teaching Assistant

OFSTED September 2011: 'Pupils are well cared for and their achievement is good'.

26.5 hours (Supporting a Year 2 pupil).

(Temporary contract at The Lancaster School with the possibility of extending the contract on transfer to junior provision in September 2015).

We are looking for an experienced and excellent teaching assistant who will support the educational, social and emotional development of a visually impaired learner, as well as support their access to the curriculum.

Our ideal person will:

• Be enthusiastic, creative and committed;
• Support and ensure access for the child to resources and to all learning activities;
• Ensure the physical safety of the child during lessons and unstructured times;
• Competently use and support the use of assistive technologies and alternative resources;
• Deliver literacy and maths intervention tasks that focus on the child?s specific needs and the gaps in learning (pre and post teaching);
• Modify written materials into appropriate formats;
• Work effectively with and alongside outside agencies;
• Be willing to undertake new and relevant training and development opportunities;
• Have previous experience of working with visually impaired pupils (desirable).
