Waverley School has been judged outstanding by OFSTED on three occasions; October 2010, December 2012 and we have just achieved an outstanding outcome in 2014. We are a Humanities Specialist College which became an all through school in September 2012.  At Waverley we try to create an environment which allows everyone to develop mutual respect for each other and a respect for learning.  This is an exciting time to join Waverley School. We achieved IIP Gold in December 2013 and have recently been awarded Teaching School Status.

The students at Waverley School have made outstanding progress year on year.  In 2012, we were recognised as the highest achieving specialist school by the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust, SSAT. We have recently moved to new landmark buildings that provide everyone with state of the art facilities for learning, teaching and training.

As part of the exciting growth plans for the School, we are expanding our team to meet future requirements.  We are looking for an experienced and influential practitioner to join our team as Phase Leader in our Technology & Art Department.  We are looking for someone with a specialist background in Art, who can also teach across the faculty.  You will be required to maintain an effective teaching team which continually enhances the quality of learning and achievement.  You will also be required to support the development of Art & Design and Design Technology specialisms and to support/lead on an aspect of data and reporting to develop the work of the faculty and identify intervention to ensure all students achieve.

The successful candidate will need to meet the requirements of the person specification in order to be offered the post and will be subject to an enhanced DBS check. Waverley School is a co-educational, all-through school located in Birmingham, West Midlands. It has around 1800 pupils across its primary, secondary and sixth-form departments. The school is part of the Waverley Education Foundation, a multi-academy trust that also operates the local Waverley Studio College.

Waverley School became an all-through school in 2012 and moved to a new site in 2013. It is proud of its diverse student intake.


Values and vision

Waverley School values learning through diversity. Tolerance and acceptance play a huge part in its ethos, with students encouraged to show respect for other faiths and belief systems. The social development of pupils is considered to be of paramount importance to best prepare them for adulthood.
