Job overview

37 hpw, 52 weeks per year, with shift patterns to be agreed and managed by the postholder, but could include weekend working. A flexible approach to working hours would also be required.

Ipswich Academy occupies a new building with modern facilities which were completed in 2013. We are seeking to appoint a Premises Manager to take responsibility for the security, maintenance and upkeep of our new academy so our students have the best possible environment for learning.

You will be highly motivated to do your best for our school and its extended community and be able to work on your own initiative and manage our dedicated cleaners and premises assistants.

You will need:

  • strong communication skills allied to the ability to plan in detail and operate the many technical systems of the building
  • experience of site management, team leading and be able to oversee aspects of health and safety
  • some practical experience in basic maintenance skills would be useful
  • to be able to work additional hours as required, for which extra payment will be made.

Throughout a sense of humour is indispensable as well as a calm and professional manner.

Ipswich Academy is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational secondary school in Suffolk, serving students from the age of 11-16. It belongs to the Paradigm Trust, along with four other primary and secondary academies.

Formerly Holywell High School, Ipswich Academy converted to academy status in 2010. The Learning Schools Trust invested £16 million into a new building at the school, which opened in 2013, with facilities including a 3G sports pitch area. It belongs to the Paradigm Trust, along with six other academies.
