Full time, temporary until 31 August 2015

Are you a graduate who is thinking about a career in primary school teaching?

We have a number of exciting opportunities at Hill Farm Primary School for graduates who are committed and resilient, dedicated to ensure high attainment of our pupils, with the warmth and empathy to make a real difference to children and young people.

You will be someone who is determined to get onto the right teacher training programme for you, looking for a stepping stone to gain some invaluable experience this academic year. You will need a degree in a primary national curriculum subject (ideally in maths, English, MFL or science, albeit a good A level result in at least one of these subjects with a different degree would certainly be considered).

You'll need a sense of humour, innovative ideas, planning and problem solving skills and a strong belief that hard work pays off. In return we will offer you

  • a timetable of at least 50% graduate teaching
  • a timetable of up to 50% classroom support/development with the support of the Castle Phoenix Trust Teaching School Alliance and Castle Phoenix Multi-Academy Trust (through Caludon Castle School, a leadership specialist school)
  • friendly, happy and well-behaved children who are keen and eager to learn.

You will have access to an excellent support network through our hardworking, committed staff and continuous professional development during your time with us. We will play to your strengths and you will be able to enjoy the collaboration and involvement of a dynamic learning community.

If this is the next step you have been looking for, then come and see us in action and find out more about what this role can offer. If you would like to discuss this post further or arrange a school visit, please contact the Headteacher Miss Claire Jones on 024 76595455 or by email at headteacher@hillfarm.coventry.sch.uk. Visits to the school prior to application are strongly encouraged and will be warmly welcomed.

Application packs are available from Emma Over, HR Business Manager at Castle Phoenix Trust stovere@caludoncastle.co.uk and on www.wmjobs.co.uk and are returnable to Emma Over.

Application deadline: 9.00 am on Wednesday 12 November 2014

Hill Farm is an increasingly popular, large three form entry primary school and Nursery in the North West of Coventry.

We are passionate about our children having access to teaching and learning experiences of the highest quality in all areas and at all ages. Our curriculum is relevant, challenging and engaging and our children love to learn. Behaviour at our school is very good and parents/carers are supportive of all that we do.

In September 2013, Hill Farm converted to sponsored academy status as part of the Castle Phoenix Multi-Academy Trust, the lead school of which is Caludon Castle Secondary School in Wyken, Coventry. Being part of this Trust gives us unrivalled opportunities to work in partnership with a secondary school and share best practice. As a strategic partner in the Castle Phoenix Teaching School Alliance, we also have access to a wide range of training and professional development opportunities.  Our children are also able to benefit from making use of some of Caludon Castle’s specialist facilities to enhance curriculum provision.

In April 2015, Ofsted judged Hill Farm to be good in all five categories. In particular, they highlighted the good teaching and strong leadership, noting that “Teachers have high expectations of pupils’ work and plan interesting activities which engage and enthuse them”.

We are extremely proud of this outcome and it has given us a positive momentum to move forward and continue to build on our many strengths.

We feel that Hill Farm is an exciting and vibrant place for children to learn and grow.  Our overall aim is to improve the school so that we are seen as one of the best schools in Coventry. This will be because:

  • Our children will achieve personal excellence in their learning.
  • Our children will develop as happy, confident, independent learners who enjoy coming to school and thrive personally, socially and emotionally as a result of our high quality provision.
  • Our parents and carers will be an integral part of the school and their child’s learning.
  • Our friendly, welcoming and inclusive ethos will ensure that our school sits at the heart of the community.
