Pioneer a new way of learning

Energy Coast UTC will provide a new concept for education.
The UTC will open in West Cumbria in September 2014.

Energy Coast UTC is set to deliver an outstanding educational experience. Our curriculum will be inspired by employer requirements, designed by our partners at GEN II training, Lakes College, and the University of Cumbria, and delivered by experts in industry and teaching. Students will also be supported with some of the best specialist facilities in the UK, training in the engineering workshops at ENERGUS and the new Construction Training Centre at Lakes College.

Our Principal will develop a centre of excellence focusing on specialist technical training alongside traditional academic education. During the three-term lead-in you will ensure everything is in place for the UTC to open. Your priorities will include: ensuring the building is ready on time; recruiting an exceptional staff team; creating an employer led and project driven curriculum; and successfully attracting the first cohort of students. You will focus on driving quality across learning and teaching ensuring the UTC is successful within the first two years.

You will be a highly skilled and effective leader who understands the challenges of educating 14-19 year olds. With a strong track record of building strong relationships with industry, policy makers, education professionals, parents and students, you will be a shining ambassador for the College. Effective partnership working will be absolutely critical to our success. You will therefore need to be personable and inspirational. Of course, you will need to be resilient, driven and focused in order to establish an outstanding institution and educational experience at the heart of West Cumbria and its communities.

Energy Coast UTC is the only UTC in the country dedicated to an energy specialism reflecting the uniqueness of West Cumbria as Britain's Energy Coast.
