The successful candidate will take over a school where recent key indicators around attendance, behaviour and data systems have been acknowledged by HMI.

Prospective Sponsors: The Craven Educational Trust (Craven College, Skipton). The proposed Academy will be part of a unique education offer, from September 2014, where the school will be sited next door to its sponsor and only twenty minutes away from the key school improvement partner (South Craven School, as part of the Red Kite Alliance). The successful candidate will play a key leadership role in the development of a seamless pathway for young people, right through from age 11 into post-sixteen study and employment.

Aireville School is a dynamic and constantly Improving school with Specialist Sports College status. We are a successful, mixed 11 - 16 school which strives for excellence and aims to help all our students achieve their full potential, whatever their ability.

Our school is a happy and vibrant place in which to learn, and it reflects and embraces our local community. Students work hard in their academic and vocational studies and are involved in a wide range of sporting, creative, practical and community activities that help them to develop the knowledge, skills, values and attitudes they will need after leaving Aireville.

We strongly believe in standards of good behaviour respect and service to others and we aim to develop these qualities in our students. We want students to be happy at school and to wear the Aireville uniform with pride. Equally, we want parents to know that their children are safe

Our Status

We became a Specialist Sports College in September 2005. Our four-year development plan and the finance we have been allocated allows us to develop the high quality of our PE and sporting opportunities for our students and to work with our local primary schools and community.

Sports College status provides motivation and opportunities for students to take part and compete, to take on leadership responsibilities and to focus on healthy living and exercise. The status also enhances teaching and learning in other subjects across the curriculum.

Our Facilities

We believe that students and staff work best in a comfortable and safe learning environment, which is designed to deliver the curriculum. We are always looking to develop our school site to achieve this and our specialist status as well as investment by the Local Education Authority allows us to do this.

Our facilities include specialist Science, Technology and ICT rooms, two gymnasiums, tennis courts and pitches, Art, Music and Drama facilities and well equipped classrooms to deliver other subjects. Most of our rooms are carpeted and many have interactive whiteboards and networked computers. We also have a large school hall and a Learning Resource Centre.
