Job overview

Reporting to the Head of Offsite Programmes you will lead Bell St Albans as an innovative and dynamic centre of education for young people from around the world, one that is a central part of the Bell Young Learner operation and continuously growing and improving. In this newly created role you will lead and develop the Bell St Albans team ensuring the highest levels of customer service and the best possible student experience.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Agree and deliver strategy and revenue targets for the centre
  • Provide leadership and direction to staff ensuring academic and activity programmes, student services and pastoral care are delivered to the highest standard, developing a culture of educational excellence, improvement, research and innovation
  • Be an ambassador for Bell on a number of levels - relevant bodies, agents, schools and groups, local community
  • Establish and maintain quality assurance procedures to ensure that excellence is maintained, and reflected in all external and internal inspections
  • Ensuring the site is developed to accommodate all client groups, in accordance with agreed standards, ensuring health and safety compliance and security is maintained

Person Specification

You will have proven educational leadership skills and be able to engage, motivate and encourage all levels of staff. With a strong commercial instinct, you will be able to think strategically and be visible and approachable to both staff and students.

Essential requirements:

  • Degree level qualified
  • Experience of leading a residential educational operation on a commercial basis, whether in private or publicly-funded contexts
  • Experience of continuous improvement in education
  • Experience of managing an environment for young people
  • Experience of managing a variety of staff groups and contracted services
  • Experience of managing facilities and buildings

Desirable requirements:

  • Experience of working in primary or secondary education in UK and overseas
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, health and safety regulations and statutory requirements
  • Experience in inspections by governing or accrediting bodies
  • Experience of running a 24/7 business
