El Gouna International School is a co-educational school established in 1998 in the beautiful, purpose-built resort town of El Gouna, about 28 km away from Hurghada International Airport in the Red Sea coast of Egypt, a mere 2-3 hour flight from Europe/UK. El Gouna is known for being Egypt’s greenest and most environmentally friendly city, attracting tourists from around the world; featuring 18 hotels, numerous restaurants, bars and eateries, 3 marinas, as well as, a fully equipped international hospital.  Cultural events and festivals are usually organised, such as the popular El Gouna Film Festival.

EGIS offers two educational tracks: the International British Section and the National Language School Section. The total student population to date is 681, of which 434 are in the National Section and only 247 students in the International British Section. EGIS offers the British Curriculum (EYFS, National curriculum for England, leading to IGCSE/AS/A Levels), and the Egyptian Language School Curriculum as separate school sections, in addition to the German Language DSD Programme for students in both sections.  EGIS is accredited by the Ministry of Education and is a member of the British Schools in the Middle East (BSME), is also on track to becoming a member of COBIS. Our school is affiliated with the British Council as an approved center for Cambridge (CAIE) and Edexcel (Pearson) exams.

Having fewer than 250 students in the British Section means that there is an average of 20 students per class in KS3 and even fewer than 15 in KS4 and 5. In IGCSE/AS/A Levels there are usually less than 10 students in class. The past couple of years, EGIS produced 5 Outstanding Learner Awardees: Top in Africa in Physics IGCSE, Top in the World in German Foreign Language IGCSE and High Achiever in Arabic Foreign Language IGCSE, Top in Egypt in Information Technology and High Achievement in AS English!
