Job overview

St Mary's Church of England Primary Academy aims to serve its community by striving to provide education of the highest quality within the context of Christian belief and practice.

The Directors of the academy are seeking to appoint an outstanding Principal who is resilient and hard working with the ability to drive school improvement at all levels.

The foundations for this expanding academy are already in place with a recently opened extension which will enable us to take our pupil numbers from 230 on roll to 420 very quickly and we will already have the supportive teaching staff backed by a strong governing body in place for this growth.

This role may also suit an aspirant deputy head teacher with an excellent record of leadership with proven success.

Our ideal candidate will be able to take an holistic view of the academy and the challenges it meets bringing an ability to engender trust and build a culture of strong aspiration and excellence in both staff and pupils and be able to use data to maximise our resources in raising attainment and improvement for all pupils.

The successful candidate will also show a flair for budget management and be able to inspire our staff to follow their vision for an excellent school.

Description:

Located in the heart of the growing town of Burton Latimer, St Mary's C of E Primary Academy is 1 of 3 schools forming The Cross Keys Academy Trust. Interviews are planned for the 18th and 19th of November.

St Mary's Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to follow this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check, references and other checks.

Jonathan is Principal of one of the other 2 schools in the Cross Keys Academy Trust, a joint trust of 3 standalone, primary academies. The previous principal left in August 2014 and Jonathan kindly agreed to assist us for 2 terms, whilst we recruit a replacement.

In 2012 Ofsted graded us a satisfactory school. Since then we have sought to address the issues raised and provide a better education and environment for our school community.

Burton Latimer is changing with many hundreds of houses being constructed bringing potential pupils of primary age. With the opening in September this year of our new teaching block we also stand on the threshold of  exciting change – which will see our numbers on roll grow from 230 to 420. We have the accommodation, we have the prospect of additional pupils coming with the new housing and we have plans for recruiting staff to match that growth.

The governing body is enthusiastic and keen to play its part in moving the school forward. The staff and governors are committed to raising standards.

Whoever you are, you will need to be able to support the Christian ethos of our school as you seek to help us provide the best possible education for our pupils.

Please come and visit us and we will be delighted to show you our school and answer your questions.
