Job overview

This is a unique and exciting opportunity for an inspirational leader to create and shape an allthrough free school which is planned to open in September 2015.

The vision that lies at the heart of the Academy is to be a world class centre of excellence that will challenge and inspire its pupils to achieve their full potential and place them at the heart of the local, national and global communities. We will create and deliver an enhanced, high quality education which will improve the life chances of children and young people and drive an 'Ambition for Change' throughout our community.

The successful candidate will ideally be appointed from January 2015, giving them two terms before to plan and implement an innovative curriculum. You will be supported by the Temple Learning Foundation Project Team, who bring a wealth of expertise.

Temple Learning Academy is a partner of the Cooperative Temple Newsam Learning Partnership Trust (TNLP) a long established network of primary and secondary schools each of which celebrates their unique and individual character whilst at the same time sharing high expectations through working within a common set of co-operative values and principles.

Our initial analysis of need and in-depth surveys demonstrate a very high level of demand for places within the local community and at our Academy. We expect to open in September 2015, subject to final approval from the Secretary of State, with all of our 60 reception class places allocated to local families.

Located at the heart of the community we serve, we provide the highest quality learning experiences to support the needs and aspirations of all our children, providing the best possible foundations for adult life. The sense of community pervades everything that we stand for and everything that we do.

Our Mission, to ‘nurture ambition, deliver excellence and enrich children’s lives’ is underpinned by our core Values of Courage, Opportunity, Respect and Excellence: our C.O.R.E. values.

Courage

To act with bravery, determination and initiative, and with the self-belief and confidence that we can succeed even in difficult situations.

Opportunity

To embrace new experiences and to see all of the possibilities open to us, placing no limits on our aspirations or what we could achieve in the future.

Respect

To act with kindness towards everyone, no matter what our differences, and to recognise the value and worth of everyone in our community

Excellence

The quality of being outstanding in terms of effort or achievement.

All staff understand that children may only begin to learn and thrive educationally when they are in a place where they feel safe and comfortable. Consequently, our pastoral systems and the support that every member of staff provides, is exceptional. Once children are at that point, we recognise our role to direct the primary focus from ‘nurture’ to ‘academic rigor’ to ensure that by the time students leave us at the age of 16, they are all ready to compete with other children locally and nationally.

Our curriculum is ambitious, broad and balanced. It is implemented well to ensure that pupils gain the knowledge and cultural capital they need to succeed in life. As an all-through school, our progressive, knowledge-rich curriculum has been coherently planned and sequenced from EYFS to Year 11 to ensure that students develop the skills and ‘know how’ that will equip them for future learning and employment.

We provide expert teaching, alongside a broad range of meaningful opportunities and experiences, both inside and outside the classroom, within a stimulating, friendly and hard-working environment that inspires.
