Job overview

An outstanding school

Millbank Academy is a Future Academies Primary School. Future Academies is an ambitious family of four local schools, a new teacher training college (SCITT) and small curriculum unit, all in South Westminster, London, SW1.

Working relationships between partner schools in the Trust - Ofsted Outstanding secondary school Pimlico Academy, Pimlico Primary Free School and Churchill Gardens Primary Academy- are physically close and directly benefit staff and pupils.

Future Academies is an innovative Trust, teaching a subject specific curriculum from the beginning of primary education to set a new high standard in maintained education.

The Trust provides an immensely exciting educational environment and we are looking for leaders with subject interests or specialisms, intellect and passion to join us as we aim to develop both excellence in our own pupils and forge new directions in education.

Recent promotions within our group mean we seek a candidate with leadership experience for the post of Principal of Millbank Academy. Our pupils achieve well but we are always ambitious for our pupils and continually working to improve our schools. We want an exceptional candidate to assist us in the move from Ofsted Outstanding to true excellence in all areas of school life. Crucial to improving pupil attainment is our introduction of a knowledge- led curriculum and subject specialist teaching. We seek, therefore, a candidate who believes that what pupils know is as important as what they can do, and who has an extremely secure understanding of how to improve pedagogy overall.

Millbank's leaders are expected to be outstanding teachers in their own right and efficient managers, modelling best practice in all areas of teaching and school management. Leaders must possess a deep understanding of how to introduce initiatives and improve achievement by working directly with teaching staff.

The candidate will report to the Executive Principal, Alyson Russen, with whom they will work closely, in addition to working with the Deputy Principal of the Academy and other Trust and Academy staff as appropriate.

To apply: Please download the information, or visit our website on www.millbankacademy.org.uk. Visits to the school are encouraged. Please telephone Millbank Academy on 020 7641 5945 to arrange.

Closing date: Monday, October 13th at 9:00am.

Millbank Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all members of staff and volunteers to share this commitment. An Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check is required for this post.
