Job overview

An exciting, and challenging opportunity has arisen for a Recruitment and Careers Manager (Paediatrics) within the Education and Training Division at the London office.

The Recruitment and Careers team set standards and guidelines for paediatric trainee recruitment in the UK, ensuring that all of our schemes are fit for purpose and follow the principles of best practice. In particular the team manages the selection process for Specialty and Sub-Specialty training posts in Paediatrics, as well as an international training scheme.

The post holder will manage staff and resources to meet the strategic objectives of the team and Division including the setting of objectives and conducting performance reviews for named staff.  With responsibility for both strategic development and operational delivery of all activity related to recruitment, selection and careers to agreed standards, the successful candidate will be adept at contributing and responding to changes in this area on an ongoing basis.

The desired candidate will have extensive knowledge and experience of working in the NHS or Higher Education sector (e.g postgraduate deanery, university, medical royal college), high volume assessment/recruitment processes, working within a regulatory framework and be able to lead on the strategic development of recruitment and selection methodologies in a medical context.

An excellent knowledge and understanding of assessment methodologies associated with high stakes assessment is required.  In addition, a strong, working knowledge of immigration legislation and other regulatory frameworks, as they apply to the employment of doctors would be desirable.  Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills to inspire support and confidence of members, staff and senior clinicians are essential.

The post is at grade 7 and the salary offered for this post ranges from £41,678 pa to £50,708 per annum (all appointments at the College are usually offered at the first point on the scale).
