Safeguarding and Protection Officer, London

Objective:

To ensure that children and vulnerable students in our care are fully protected through effective and consistent policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

• To lead and manage policy, procedure and practice for safeguarding globally
• To ensure that all parts of Pearson assess appropriately and effectively manage safeguarding responsibilities
• To ensure that appropriate guidance, training and consultancy advice is available to all businesses
• Strategic responsibility for ensuring the Pearson global policy standards are met
• Reporting on progress to the Pearson Executive sponsor for safeguarding and various governance bodies within Pearson as necessary
• Provide leadership and internal advocacy on the importance of safeguarding within the company
• Representing Pearson externally up to and including our response to an incident
• Investigate serious breaches with the help of external experts as necessary

Required Outcomes:

• Ensuring Pearson's safeguarding and protection practice is kept up-to-date and reflects best standards
• Ensuring policies and practice are consistently adopted across high risk settings where Pearson has operational responsibility
• Establishing and monitoring the measurable contribution made toward ensuring that Pearson meets its policy standards
• Providing measurable contributions toward furthering the field of safeguarding
