We are situated in the small picturesque historic village of Kincardine O’Neil which stands on the north bank of the River Dee between Banchory and Aboyne. It is remarkable in having very few buildings less than 100 years old.

Our school building dates from 1895 but it has been extended and updated in the intervening years. Further improvements are scheduled to begin in 2008 and these include a new general purpose hall and kitchen. There is also a large play area to the rear of the school.

We are presently organised into two classes: a P1-4 and a P5-7. Our teaching staff comprises a teaching head, a classroom teacher and a head teacher relief. We also receive support from a classroom assistant, a part-time support for learning auxiliary and a number of visiting specialists.

We are one of ten primaries, which together with Aboyne Academy make up the Aboyne network of schools. We are also part of the new Community School which is promoting interagency working and has recently employed a social worker, a pupil support worker and an assistant health improvement officer.

Most pupils transfer to Aboyne Academy for their secondary education. Strong links have been established over the years to enable efficient transfer of information between schools and ensure a smooth transition for Primary 7 pupils to the academy.

The current school roll is 30 pupils.
