Two temporary/part time posts available 32.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per annum

Newport West Collaboration Schools (Bassaleg, Duffryn and St Josephs) require two drivers to transport students between three school.

The successful candidates will:

  • Drive a minibus, transporting post-16 students on a daily basis;
  • Have responsibility for ensuring the safety of students, staff, road users, pedestrians and the general public;
  • Adhere to current legislation, industry best practice and the policies and procedures of Newport City Council.

The post-holders will also be a member of their School's Site Team and will be required to assist in undertaking general site maintenance duties at their allocated school and may act as a key-holder for the school. The need to be flexible in covering the needs of the school is essential.

Previous experience is preferred but not essential. The successful applicants will be required to complete an enhanced disclosure check.

Bassaleg School is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational secondary school with sixth form in Gwent serving students from the age of 11-18. The secondary school, situated in Newport has approximately 1,767 pupils on record.

The secondary school nurtures the intellectual, spiritual, social and physical needs of students and focuses on guiding and supporting them throughout their time at school. A broad and balanced learning curriculum helps students to discover their interests and aims to provide them with the knowledge and discipline to succeed in a modern and ever changing society. Community plays a core role at Bassalag School, and staff encourage students to play an active role in it. A wide range of extra-curricular activities ranging from sports clubs to writing workshops are available for students to attend, giving them the opportunity to expand their skills beyond the classroom and develop new skills and interests. Pupils also have access to careers information and advice, allowing for them to have goals and aspirations for their future.
