About the School:

Songkhla International School is the first fully licensed international school to be established in the historical and culturally important province of Songkhla, Southern Thailand. Songkhla International School is an approved member of the highly regarded Cambridge International School network.  The school follows the National Curriculum of England and Wales, integrating an international perspective with the Cambridge International Primary & Secondary 1 Frameworks, which provide the pupils with a quality, student centred academic programme. Songkhla International School is recognized by the QCDA, ONESQA and ISAT and is also a certified Cambridge ESOL and International Examinations Preparation Centre. The school began in 2009 with 15 students. There are currently 95 students on roll.

Our Crest:

The large conch in the centre is part of the symbol of Songkhla Province.  The shield represents that of Cambridge University as all our pupils sit Cambridge Exams whether they are ESOL, Checkpoints or IGCSE.  The flash on the shield is the light that is taken from the school motto 'Ego Sum Lux' which translated from Latin means 'I am the light'.  Orange represents the rich earth of Thailand and Green represents the abundant foliage of Thailand.

Songkhla International School is committed to developing each child's full potential in a child centred inquiry based learning environment that will foster positive attitudes towards excellence, wholehearted participation in relationships and activities and lifelong learning.  Our teaching methods and guidance will inspire our pupils to become independent creative thinkers and progressive contributors to a sustainable and healthy world.
The school is located in the city of Hat Yai, the third largest city in Thailand. Hat Yai is located near the seas of the Gulf of Thailand to the East and the Andaman to the West.  Hat Yai is just 50 kilometres from the Malaysian border. Hat Yai has an international airport, which provides easy access to a wide range of locations in South East Asia, such as Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Hua Hin and Chiang Mai.

About the Candidate:

The ability to teach another subject will be an advantage. We currently have a fantastic staff and we are looking for people who will contribute positively to our team.  We are looking for people who want to live somewhere interesting and who enjoy challenges:  people who are outgoing, have a good sense of humour in and out of the classroom, and who can lend their experience and expertise to continue to improve our school, which is still in its early phase of development.
We are looking for teachers who actively use pedagogy that will help us reach our goal of becoming a school of excellence in terms of quality of teaching and learning.  We want people who will assist our students to become lifelong learners.
We are looking for enthusiastic and experienced teachers that have quality experience working in a secondary school in the UK and / or in an international setting.

The successful candidate must:

• Hold a Bachelor?s Degree in Secondary Education (B.Ed.) or BA Degree with PGCE in Secondary Education or be an experienced graduate with equivalent teaching qualification;
• Have at least two years? experience teaching at Key Stage 3;
• Be enthusiastic, flexible, and willing to become part of a supportive teaching team in a developing international school environment.
