Job overview

Great science teacher needed for outstanding new school in Birmingham

St Alban's Academy is a Church of England school in the heart of Birmingham. The school opened in 2009, and was rated 'Outstanding' by Ofsted in 2011. As part of the ARK Schools network, St Alban's aims to transform the lives of children - ensuring they are all able to go to university or pursue the career of their choice, regardless of their background. Last year the school moved into its award-winning new buildings, and started admitting sixth form students for the first time. For further information see www.stalbansacademy.org.

We are now seeking an outstanding Science Teacher to join the school. The Science Teacher will be responsible for planning and delivering the highest-quality lessons and achieving excellent results for their students, instilling in them a love for the subject and a desire to learn. The role will provide the opportunity to develop an engaging and challenging curriculum that inspires children.

By joining St Alban's, you will benefit from small class sizes, a supportive leadership team, a 20 hour teaching week and regular departmental meeting held in the school day.

The successful candidate will:

  • be an outstanding science teacher
  • have demonstrable evidence of raising attainment and developing excellence
  • be committed to St Alban's ethos of high expectations and no excuses
  • have the resolve to make a real difference to the lives of pupils

We strongly encourage you to visit the school; to arrange a visit or to discuss the role further, please contact Katie Roberts on katie.roberts@stalbansacademy.org or 0121 446 1323. For more information about the post and details of how to apply, please go to: http://stalbansacademy.org/vacancies.

The deadline for applications is 11am on Monday 10 November 2014. Interviews are expected to take place on Wednesday 19 November 2014.
