Job overview

"Stronger in Knowledge, Partnership & Leadership"

Parkwood E-ACT Academy, awarded a 'good' from Ofsted in 2014, is a nationally respected, high-attaining and supportive specialist language and sports academy based in the north of Sheffield, easily accessible from the M1/ A1 motorway network. We moved into our state of the art new building in April 2012 and have since been privileged enough to work in an Academy which offers both a modern and practical learning environment, along with locally unrivalled, inspiring surroundings for both staff and students alike. As an established Academy which began its exciting journey in 2009, we are fortunate enough to be sponsored by EACT: an organisation fully committed to partnering us and all our stakeholders and communities, on our journey to becoming world class.

We are proud to have launched our new 6th Form this year; offering quality post-16 accreditation to small, committed groups of Y12 students for the very first time. There are currently no A Level courses being offered in Science - but this is definitely something we're aspiring to change for next academic year.

We are now seeking to appoint a strong teacher of Science to join a department that is going from strength to strength. We believe in delivering exciting and engaging lessons, bringing school Science to life whilst linking it to real world problems and we look for teachers who can do the same.

There is a key focus on enabling students and instilling in them a passion for Science, exploring the role and influence of Science in today's society. The Academy is a "high energy" and rewarding place to work and staff working here can see the positive impact they make on young people. We have a strong belief that if students enjoy learning, they will achieve at a high level.

Parkwood E-ACT Academy recognises and values continued professional development and as such training opportunities will be made available throughout your career with us.

Further information can be found on www.hays.co.uk/jobs/parkwoodacademy. To request an application form, or a visit to the Academy, please contact our recruitment partner, Deborah Henderson at Hays Education on 01142 896746, or email deborah.henderson@hays.com.

The closing date for this post is Friday 14 November at 10.00a.m.
Interviews are planned to take place Monday 24 November 2014.

E-ACT is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of its students and thus expects all employees and volunteers to share this commitment.

The successful candidate will be required to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service application in line with Section 115 of the Police Act 1997. E-ACT is committed to promoting equality of opportunity and diversity.
