Job overview

Science/Technology Head of Department, Crawley

Our vision is clear; we want all children to succeed, grow and flourish. Through our academic curriculum, physical and sporting provision and extra-curricular activities, our pupils will enjoy unrivalled educational and personal achievement. We devise individual education plans for all pupils and by extending and pushing the gifted, and supporting those with additional needs, we will open doors to the best colleges, universities and careers in the world.

Through tolerance and sensitivity to diversity, we aim to give all children a love of learning that they will carry with them throughout their lives. Our educational emphasis is global, entrepreneurial and uses science and technology to raise aspirations for all. We are different, and proud to be so.

Welcome to The Gatwick School.

Up-to-date curriculum knowledge, self-motivation and effective leadership are a given for a role of this importance. We're looking for an inspirational and motivational leader, able to analyse departmental data, set targets, plan, promote and implement policies. Your responsibilities to improve performance cover teachers and pupils, both of which are key to us delivering on our aspirations and values. SENCO experience would be an advantage.

From organising and chairing staff meetings, to classroom observations, evaluating resources and ensuring good practice - the responsibilities of a Department Head are as challenging as they are rewarding. You're going to need the gravitas, the experience and the diplomacy to deliver, coupled with your own academic achievements, life skills and qualifications.

Our governors, our parents and our pupils have high hopes for our school. In turn, the school has sky-high expectations of its staff. Together, we will produce well-rounded, open-minded adults with a zest for learning and life.
