SCITT DIRECTOR (0.5FTE) (FIXED TERM)

Fixed term for a period of 18 months

Leeds Trinity University and Northern Lights Teaching School Alliance (NLTSA), a designated a School Centred Initial Teacher Training provider (SCITT) are seeking to appoint a SCITT Director who will share our vision and passion to develop and deliver an outstanding training programme. This is an extremely exciting development for both parties and will enable us to provide high quality ITT programmes in the areas of Bradford and North Yorkshire.

The postholder will be employed by Leeds Trinity University, who will validate the programme which will have the academic rigour of a full PGCE with 60 Masters Level Credits.

The Northern Lights Teaching School Alliance has a strong track record of delivering both secondary and primary School Direct programmes in partnership with the University of Leeds. A unique aspect of our secondary course has been the design and delivery of a bespoke programme of professional studies delivered by outstanding practitioners and Specialist Leaders Education (SLEs) from across our Alliance.

This partnership will offer unique and exciting teacher training programmes in which trainees will benefit from the very best 'hands on and tailored' training in the many different schools and settings across our Alliance. The programme will be delivered by schools in an area which includes the southern end of the Yorkshire Dales, Harrogate and Bradford. Trainees will gain experience working in comprehensive schools and academies in both rural and inner city settings, in single sex and selective schools, as well as in a range of settings beyond mainstream. The lead schools in our Alliance are Skipton Girls' High School and Feversham College in Bradford, two Teaching Schools each of which has a proven track record of excellence and an ever increasing profile on the national stage.

A core group of Northern Lights strategic partner schools will be instrumental in the design and delivery of the programme:

Belle Vue Girls' School, Bradford
Feversham College, Bradford
Grange Technology College, Bradford
Harrogate High School, Harrogate
Skipton Girls' High School, Skipton
Titus Salt School, Bradford

Trainees will work in subject specific groups for their specialism and join together in a central hub for the professional studies programme. The programme will offer relevant, practical and current guidance for the classroom, whilst encouraging trainees to become reflective practitioners.

Northern Lights SCITT will regard the PGCE course as the start to their Teach3 programme - a NLTSA three year programme providing rich opportunities for teachers in the first three years of their career to engage with outstanding teaching and learning and leadership development.

Leeds Trinity University offer an excellent range of benefits, including generous holiday entitlements, staff development opportunities and a pension scheme.
