Job overview

Would you like to fill an exciting new post at an amazing time in our school's development?

Are you an excellent chemistry or physics teacher?

Would you like us to develop you into an outstanding leader?

This post will give you the opportunity to play a key role in continuing the development of science following several years of improvement. We are looking for someone who is ambitious, enthusiastic and excited by the prospect of working in a school where the SLT are fully supportive of developing the potential in people. You will have the potential to be developed further.

The successful candidate will be able to enjoy being at the forefront of further raising standards in science and be able to engage, enthuse and inspire students.

In September we converted to an Academy with a trust whose USP is in the use of ICT in education. You will enjoy being in a school where all computers, laptops, cabling, wifi, servers and software were replaced to the highest specifications in September.

We are part of the Priority Schools Building Programme and as such will have a new school built starting next year. You will therefore have your own brand new lab within two years. You will get to work in a school where you are valued and can make a real difference to young people's lives in this small market town. This is a school which is going places.

We are looking of someone who can teach chemistry and/or physics to GCSE.

Further details and an application pack can be obtained from the Academy website, by emailing the school at info@tqea.org.uk, or by telephone on 01827-712477.

The Queen Elizabeth Academy is part of the Academy Transformation Trust family of academies.

We are located in the historic North Warwickshire town of Atherstone. The school’s traditions are founded upon the opening of the original Queen Elizabeth Grammar School in 1573. In 2016 the school moved into a state of the art learning facility which provides outstanding opportunities for our whole community to learn and grow together.

We epitomise our mission that, “We can and we will,” in all we do and the year on year successes our students celebrate is testimony to the lived experience of our core purpose. We provide every TQEA student, from all backgrounds and with all abilities, with an exceptional education underpinned by an ambitious curriculum and high quality teaching. It is a curriculum for all in which students’ talents in Humanities, Technology, Arts, Performance and Music are nurtured along with the Core curriculum of Mathematics, English, Science and Citizenship. In doing so we prepare students for lifelong learning and the opportunity to compete and succeed in their chosen career path. Therefore, for every student we have the highest ambitions and this leads us to expect excellent standards of personal behaviour and mutual respect from all in our community.

Most importantly we are relentless in our care for our students and are committed to safeguarding. We want our students to emerge from their time at TQEA as happy, personally and academically successful young people who are well-prepared to contribute positively as adults to their families and their communities.

We look for a number of outstanding qualities in our staff: an innovative and creative approach to their work; enthusiasm, positivity and an unfaltering commitment to our students’ success, and an open- minded, proactive attitude to working within a team. We want individuals who want to go the extra mile for our community.

Teamwork is at the heart of everything we do and by working together we aim to secure a successful future for all. We encourage those interested in joining our school to spend some time with us to gain a real understanding of our ethos and what we have to offer.

The dedication of the staff and the enthusiasm of the students, coupled with the support of our parents and carers, makes this a special place.
