The International School of Lusaka, founded in 1963, is one of the oldest international schools on the continent of Africa, and is currently the third largest school in the Association of International Schools in Africa. ISL offers the IBPYP, IGCSE AND IBDP, and educates 650 students, aged 2-18, from over 60 different countries. The international teaching staff consists of 65 professional educators from 12 countries. The school is directed by the Head of School, who is supported by the Deputy Head of School/ Primary Principal, the Secondary School Principal and the Finance Manager

Job Description:
The Secondary School Principal is the academic and administrative leader of the Secondary School of ISL and reports to the Head of School. The principal will ensure that all programmes and practices of faculty and staff support the school's mission and aims and that all students are provided with a challenging, balanced, holistic educational programme. The principal is expected to provide leadership and organisational capacity building while contributing to the positive spirit of community that exists at ISL.

Required Qualifications:

  • An advanced degree in leadership/education or comparable experience
  • Demonstrated successful leadership, organizational and management skills, ideally in a senior role in an IB World School
  • A strong background in teaching as well as administrative experience, especially with the IGCSE and the IBDP programmes
  • Energy, enthusiasm and the ability to gain, and maintain, the confidence of parents and students
  • Demonstrated ability to create and lead academically rigorous programs across multiple year (grade) levels and disciplines

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • International school experience in a variety of roles
  • Familiarity with the region and its cultures.
  • A strong background in technology integration for teaching and learning, and experience with database and/or administrative software. Experience with 1:1 laptop programmes and other educational technology.
