Job overview

37 hours per week - 40 weeks per year, that includes some non-term time working.

We are currently looking for a highly motivated, dedicated and flexible secretary/finance manager with a commitment to high standards and efficiency.

The work will be varied and include reception and administration duties, as well as the day-to-day management of the school budget. You will also be required to work alongside the Senior Leadership Team in managing a wide range of projects with initiative. The post holder must have a high degree of computer literacy and be able to use Office applications competently. Knowledge of SIMs is desirable but training can be given to the person with relevant skills. The applicant must be highly literate and numerate, able to plan and prioritise their own workload. This role involves a high degree of contact with parents, teaching staff and other professionals so high quality people skills are essential.

All Saints is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our children, and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All school based positions are subject to enhanced DBS checks with the Disclosure and Barring Service and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post. References will also be sought.

Applications to be submitted through the TeachInHerts electronic application process or downloaded documents e-mailed to admin@datchworth.herts.sch.uk.

Our school is situated in Datchworth Village, near Knebworth, on a medieval moated site which includes All Saints Church. It was founded in 1820 and continues to maintain its close connection with All Saints Church, worshipping there as a school on at least six occasions in the Church's year. Rev Susannah Underwood is a frequent visitor in school, leading whole school worship each week.

The 179 pupils from Reception to Y.6 are taught in 7 classes, one class for each age group. There are currently 13 full and part time teachers including the Headteacher. Support staff includes five teaching assistants, two administrative staff, five midday supervisory assistants and contracted cleaners.

The school is a thriving community which Ofsted and R.E. inspectors rated as Good. Standards are high throughout the school shown by above average results in EYFS, Y.2 and Y.6. Of particular note is the 'outstanding curriculum' shown by the wide range of activities on offer. Music lessons on cello, violin, guitar, percussion, brass, singing and piano are taken by at least 60 % of the pupils above the age of 6 years. The school is part of the Stevenage Sports Partnership and, with Rising Stars, offers rugby, cricket, netball, trampolining, table tennis, dance, fencing, cheer leading, handball, gymnastics and football. French is taught throughout Key Stage 2 and Latin in Year 5. Pupils elect class members as Eco-Warriors and representatives on the School Council. The latter has national and global charity fund raising high on their weekly agenda. The award-winning Wild Life Garden enriches many areas of the curriculum, especially science.

Recent awards reflect the forward looking aspects of the school, such as Investors in People, CPD Mark, RRSA Award, Sports Mark, Healthy Schools, Eco School, recognition at County Dance Festivals and winning Cricket, Netball and Gymnastic events.

Links with the local community and other schools are ongoing - the village fete, the Elderberries Club, the Inter-Village sports day and other sporting festivals and tournaments.
