Job overview

This is a senior appointment within the Schools commissioning Directorate's SEN Team, covering three London Boroughs. The team is newly formed and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape and improve service delivery. The Business and Finance team consists of 10 people. The main areas of responsibility include specialist SEN funding and payments, management information, contracts, business support and customer services. Although an understanding of special needs is desirable, it is not essential. What is essential is an excellent track record of managing and improving business processes, ideally including one or more of finance, data or contract management.

Children's services in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, and Westminster City Council are delivered in partnership across the three boroughs. It's an ambitious undertaking and represents one of the most intriguing and challenging opportunities in local government today. We anticipate that the initiative has the potential to deliver savings of over £11 million in total, but it's also an opportunity to challenge established ways of working, to work more closely in partnership than ever before, and to share best practice on a much wider scale.

All three boroughs have a tradition of delivering good and outstanding services, but we aspire to further improve outcomes for children. It's an exciting time to be here. If you thrive on innovation and are motivated by the chance to create a new benchmark in service provision, then this role offers an unrivalled opportunity for you in your career development.

Closing Date: 06 August 2014
