Job overview

The governors are seeking to appoint a well-qualified, enthusiastic and highly motivated SENCO/Teacher with the skills and experience to lead and manage SEND across the school.

The appointed candidate will be responsible for the strategic direction and development of SEN policy and provision including the monitoring, tracking and reporting on progress and attainment in this area of school performance. They will work closely with colleagues and parents and be a key point of contact with external agencies.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be passionate about improving outcomes for, and raising attainment of children with SEN
  • Have a commitment to, and successful experience of, promoting the achievement and success of pupils with SEN
  • Have a strategic overview of SEN and inclusion including planning, advising and supporting staff
  • Be responsible for managing and delivering interventions and the development and monitoring of individual programmes
  • Prepare, manage and coordinate all relevant statutory paperwork and referrals
  • Contribute to the senior leadership team
  • Be skilled in liaising with families and external agencies.

We would expect the appointed candidate to have completed the National Award for Special Educational Needs Co-ordination or be willing to undertake it immediately if appropriate.
