Senior Instructor of Construction

Cumberland School, part of the Witherslack Group, is a co-educational independent special day school located on the outskirts of Preston, Lancashire, providing high quality education for children between the ages of 11 and 18. The school meets the needs of a diverse group of pupils exhibiting behavioural, emotional and social difficulties, alongside a range of other associated conditions which can hinder academic progress. Cumberland School prides itself on offering tailored learning to meet pupil need. Therefore the School also operates a satellite vocational learning centre that is situated close to Skelmersdale off Junction 5 of the M58. The centre mostly caters for Key Stage 4 and 5 pupils. The Centre works in partnership with two other Witherslack Group Schools.

Instructor (Senior Position): Construction (multiple trades)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Instructor of Construction (multi-trade).You will be an enthusiastic, dynamic and solution focussed individual who has the ability to deliver training and assessment in a variety of construction trades. With industry experience of building and finishing trades you will also have experience of teaching or instructing groups of young people and will have experience of dealing with challenging behaviour. Experience of working with SEN or previous curriculum leadership or development experience would be an advantage. Mainly based at the satellite Centre, however you will be expected to contribute to the extended curriculum of this vibrant, well-resourced school. You will also be required to attend meetings and training at Cumberland or any other of our partner Schools or Offices in Lancashire and Cumbria as is required to fulfil the duties of your role.

As Senior Instructor you will also accept additional responsibilities that will support the Head of Centre in the continued strive for excellence. In the absence of the Head of Centre, you will assume all the roles and responsibilities and will also be involved in overseeing aspects of supervision, development of the centre and its Staff, as well as monitoring aspects of quality and progress against the centre development plan.
