Job overview

Competitive salary offered commensurate with qualifications and experience

We are looking for an experienced Senior PYP Leader for a new school in Udon Thani in beautiful Thailand. Escape the cold and come work and explore in one of the most exciting countries in Southeast Asia. We offer an excellent package with cost of living a quarter to a third that of living in the UK. Further develop your career and experience the challenge of helping to develop a new international school.

Udon Thani International School (UDIS) aims to be one of the leading schools in the Northeast of Thailand with holistic education to meet the needs of the whole child. UDIS uses an English based curriculum and is seeking candidate status with the Primary Years Programme (PYP) of the International Baccalaureate.

As such, we require an experienced Senior Leader to join our leadership team and help drive the implementation of IB at our school. The Senior Leader will take on a hands on coordination role so prior experience as a PYP Coordinator is strongly desirable. In addition to leadership responsibilities, the Senior Leader will also be responsible for a teaching load within the school. This could be within the areas of music, arts, physical education or ESL but is flexible based on the background of the candidate. This vacancy suits a candidate looking for a challenging, exceptional and unique opportunity to help craft a new school.

Candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Have educational training from UK, USA, Australia, New Zealand or Canada
  • Be a fully qualified teacher from their home country
  • A minimum of 5 years PYP teaching experience
  • PYP Coordinator training and experience
  • Experience with curriculum development and assessment
  • A commitment to international mindedness

It would be advantageous for the candidate to have the following:

  • Experience of the UK curriculum
  • PYP workshop leader
  • ICT experience and knowledge of applying to student learning
  • Leadership experience in primary environments

What is most important is the willingness to recognise the diversity that exists in the student body and not to teach from a mono-cultural perspective. We are primarily looking for candidates who will be able to inspire in their students a love for learning.

Teachers, administrators and leaders are expected to be efficient, professional, good team members and ambassadors for the School. All staff are issued with a job description and will be appraised accordingly.

UDIS is a friendly school where teachers are valued and looked after. We will do our best to support you and help you flourish at our school because we believe happy teachers can deliver the best education to our students.

As such, we offer a professional working environment and an attractive remuneration and benefits package which include:

  • Competitive salary package commensurate with experience and qualifications
  • 15,000 baht per month accommodation allowance
  • Annual professional development allowance
  • Leadership allowance
  • Full health insurance
  • Visas and work permits to work in Thailand
  • Free tuition for dependents of school ag
  • 2 year contract
  • One return ticket to home country per contract

To apply, please contact the UDIS Head of School, Dr. Lindsay Stuart, at recruitment@udoninternationalschool.com with a cover letter, your resume and requested salary.

The position has a start date of January, 2015, although later start dates could also be accommodated.

All potential applicants must be legal to work in Thailand or be able to provide all necessary documentation that may be needed to work legally. Any costs incurred in providing any necessary documentation, or meeting any requirements, is the responsibility of the applicant.
