We particularly welcome applications from teachers and leaders in schools who have experience of working with Teaching Assistants and a range of educational support staff.

The University of Northampton is seeking to appoint a Senior Lecturer in Education in the Division of Education, Children and Young People. This is a full-time substantive Senior Lecturer in Education at an appropriate point on Grade 8.

The Division of Education, Children and Young People (EC&YP) delivers a range of taught programmes for those who are working or aim to work in the Children and Young People's workforce with strong recruitment, student satisfaction and employment outcomes. The Division successfully delivers HE accredited and professional programmes, including CPD for the wider schools' workforce.

EC&YP has two subject areas: Professional Development and Training (PDT)andEducation (EDU). EDU provides undergraduate programmes: BA (Hons) Childhood and Youth and BA (Hons) Education Studies and BA (Joint Hons) Education Studies. Professional Development and Training (PDT) provides undergraduate programmes for support staff, primarily teaching assistants, working in schools and education settings. The PDT courses include, Foundation Degree (Arts) Learning and Teaching (FDLT); BA (Hons) Learning and Teaching (BALT) (top-up); Certificate for Teaching Assistants in an International Context (CTAIC); Higher Level Teacher Assistant programme (HLTA); and other CPD modules.

The Divisional staff share an overarching aim to improve the life chances for children and young people through the provision of high quality, innovative and fit for purpose accredited programmes, including the professional development of support staff, primarily teaching assistants, working in schools and education settings.

The post is located at Park Campus in the Division of EC&YP and, whilst the appointee may be expected to contribute to any of the School's activities, the principal duties will be concerned with delivering professional development programmes, for both primary and secondary teaching assistants and other school support staff. This will be linked to the HLTA Training and Preparation programme, and the Foundation Degree Learning and Teaching. There is an opportunity for academic course leadership for a suitable candidate.

The post holder will have excellent pedagogical and subject knowledge in one or a number of national curriculum subjects together with the ability to convey this with skill and enthusiasm to a wide range of teaching assistants and other be involved in liaison with LAs and schools, recruitment and promotional activity.
