Job overview

An exciting opportunity is available to join the School of Sport, Tourism and Languages at Southampton Solent University. We are looking to recruit a Senior Lecturer in Physical Education and Sports Coaching to take a key role in the delivery of our new BA (Hons) Sport and Physical Education degree. A relevant first degree and teaching qualification, supported by recent school experience along with NGB coaching awards are essential. Additional expertise in other areas such as research methods and undergraduate study skills, sports psychology or sports policy and development would be advantageous. The successful candidate will be required to supervise undergraduate dissertations, plan, prepare, deliver classes and assess students on a range of units within their expertise, as well as engage in research, enterprise and knowledge transfer activities. A higher degree would be an advantage, but if not held further study to masters/PhD would be an expectation after appointment.

We are now recognised as one of the leading providers in the country for a wide range of undergraduate sport and exercise courses. Our portfolio continues to develop year on year with a core focus on employability and community engagement and student application numbers have shown significant growth recently. You would join a staff team who are dynamic and engaged in research, consultancy and enterprise activity across the full discipline of sport from school sport and physical education, to sports development and elite coaching and sport science support.
