The Woodland Academy Trust consists of three schools, Northumberland Heath, Peareswood and Willow Bank Primary Schools working in partnership. We are seeking to appoint a SMDS for 7 ½ hours per week, 38 weeks per year. The application form must demonstrate the candidate's thorough knowledge of procedures during the lunchtime break and should also indicate how you satisfy each criteria set out in the Person Specification. It is expected that the applicant will draw on evidence from their personal experience to date as well as their work experience (paid or unpaid), education and training. Particular attention should be given to providing examples against each competency listed.

Additionally, an understanding of how pupils' personal and social development fits into this valuable, relatively unstructured, time within the school day. Part of the role will be the annual compiling of the Midday Supervisors' Handbook and also arranging, and leading, the ½ termly MDS meetings.

The successful candidate must be able to communicate effectively, with the ability to maintain good staff relations and open communication. Experience of already being a MDS is essential. The successful applicant needs to be a special person with many qualities and talents; among them will be the ability to work well under pressure, whilst maintaining flexibility, which reflects life in a busy school.

Part of the interview will be time given to the candidate to outline their personal vision for the development of the lunchtime break in order develop the children's play & social skills further over the next 24 months.
