The Barbara Speake Stage School is an independent, mixed, non-denominational all-through school without nursery or sixth form situated in East Acton, London. The school will provide 141 places for primary and secondary students aged 4-16, when fully subscribed.
The proprietor has been running dance classes on the premises since 1945, but it was not established as a full-time school with academic and artistic teaching until 1963. Today, it is London’s only stage school catering for Early Years students.

Barbara Speake MBE
Values and Vision
The school prides itself on its friendly atmosphere, expert staff and traditional qualities. It is small enough for teachers to know every student by name, and aims to support each of them in fulfilling their creative potential.
Once exclusively a dance school, Barbara Speake has grown into a more traditional academic establishment, but continues to focus primarily on the performing arts. A theatrical agency run by the school gives students the opportunity to work professionally.
ISI
“Pupils are clearly content. They told the inspector that ‘this is a very happy, safe school’ and the ‘absolutely trust’ the school’s leaders to follow up any concerns they have. Similarly, staff spoke of an open safeguarding culture in the school. They detailed their recent and planned training and spoke, at length, about the range of safeguarding knowledge they had. Staff are clearly committed to keeping their pupils safe and happy.”
