Job overview

We are seeking a well-qualified and dynamic Subject Leader with the vision and skills to take this important department forward. Already well-equipped and popular, the department currently offers a range of GCSE and BTEC courses at KS4 and post-16 and is a popular choice form both academic study and extra-curricular involvement. There is huge potential for extracurricular arts to enhance the life of the school and there is a strong tradition of high quality productions, some in collaboration with the Music department. These benefit from the fully equipped and state-of-the-art Performing Arts Centre which is extensively used by the school and the local community.

This is an exciting time to join the school. Having been restructured, Drama now sits in the 'Directorate of Performance and Creativity' along with Art, Dance, Music, Design Technology and PE. A collaborative approach to the development of Pedagogy is being encouraged within an exciting curriculum. The Directorate staff are incredibly supportive of each other and the Directorate is led by a Director of Learning (VP) who works with the subject leaders on all aspects of their work.

The school places great emphasis on the Performing Arts and Drama in particular, and this is an extremely exciting opportunity for a person with the right vision and skills. Every support will be offered to grow and develop this area.

Closing date: Tuesday 23rd September 2014 (noon)
Interview date: Thursday 2nd October 2014
