Job overview

Subject Leader of Humanities, Hampshire

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and ambitious person, with outstanding teaching skills, as our Subject Leader for Humanities from September 2014. We are looking for someone who can lead the development of the department to ensure a cohesive and valuable experience for our pupils. Applications would be welcome from those candidates with History as a specialism.

The Vyne Community School is a vibrant and personable school. Our recent Ofsted inspection was very successful, with the team praising our 'rapidly improving school' and our students who 'want to achieve well and have high expectations of themselves'. Ofsted found teaching to have improved under the 'outstanding leadership of the Headteacher'. They said that 'students are proud of their school and want it to be viewed positively by the local community'.

As Head Teacher I have a clear vision and an absolute determination to make The Vyne an Outstanding school within 5 years. We are seeking to appoint someone who will be part of our exciting journey to make The Vyne the school of choice in Basingstoke and Deane.

We are seeking to appoint an excellent, experienced practitioner with the leadership qualities and management skills to maximise the achievements of all our pupils. We have excellent ICT facilities including interactive whiteboards across all classrooms.

This post offers an exciting career opportunity and would suit a candidate who aspires to Senior Leadership. You will work in supportive and collaborative environment, and have the opportunity to achieve significant career development as you prepare for further promotion.

We will ensure that the successful candidate has:

  • comprehensive induction including a dedicated mentor
  • continuous professional learning, development and improvement
  • the opportunity to contribute to raising standards for all our students
