The post is located within the Intensive Community Support and Learning Service based at Westburn. The service is located within Social Care and Wellbeing, Children's Services and offers care and learning services to children and young people aged 12 - 18 years. The service aims to keep children with their families and within their communities and is an alternative to young people being accommodated or being placed in secure care.

The interview process will be in 2 parts with a group or written task as well as an individual interview. Candidates must attend both parts of the interview process.   

Qualification Requirements:

  • Full GTC (Scotland) registration.
  • PVG Membership for Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults or willingness to obtain prior to a formal offer of employment being made

Post Specific Requirements:

The post holder is expected to demonstrate:

  • Carry out the organisation of resources in relation to class activity
  • Teaching assigned classes
  • Plan and prepare appropriate work for pupils
  • Present pupils for and participate in the conduct of national assessments as agreed
  • Prepare and present pupils for externally certificated courses
  • Maintain good order and discipline among pupils and in the wider and whole school context to safeguard their health and safety
  • Advise and guide pupils on issues related to their education
  • Able to work with others co-operatively (both internally and externally) in order to achieve better services and customer focused outcomes
  • Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with staff, pupils and parents
  • Ability to manage effectively the learning and teaching of individual pupils, groups and classes
  • Able to demonstrate a drive and desire to improve performance and deliver better services
  • Ability to teach the full range of time-tabled courses in the subject area
