Job overview

Salaries will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.

St Crispin's is a special school for primary and secondary age pupils. This year we have four secondary and five primary classes. The school meets the needs of learners with complex, long term additional support needs who require a significantly modified learning environment. The needs of learners are primarily associated with learning disabilities and Autism Spectrum Disorders.

St Crispin's values the key role of the expressive arts in giving our learners a voice. We have a designated and well-equipped art room. Our specialist art and design teacher works with each of our nine classes weekly.

We are looking for high quality and accessible art lessons suited to the sensory needs of the children and young people. We are looking for enthusiasm, flexibility and someone happy to work in a vibrant learning and teaching environment, tailoring activities to meet individual needs and interests. Our art teacher will liaise with class teams and the wider community to extend learning opportunities beyond the classroom.

It is desirable that applicants should have experience working with children with learning disabilities and Autism Spectrum Disorders.

We are looking for an Art Teacher to work 2 days per week- Tuesday and Wednesday preferred but we can be flexible.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by the City of Edinburgh Council.
